Well Done, H&M—I Want Everything From Your Summer Drop

I love a good bit of minimalism in the summer. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not averse to bright colours, but there’s something so chic about wearing muted tones in the heat. This year, as I won’t be heading overseas, I want to pretend I’ll be on the beaches of Ibiza or the Cote d’Azur, and H&M’s latest summer collection is going to help me do just that. The sun seems to be hanging around (I’m just as surprised as anyone) so light layers and floaty dresses are needed to fill the gaps in my summer wardrobe. Of course, I’ve found a selection of pieces that can be worn all year round if you layer them right, and some great staple pieces that you’ll find me in whatever the weather.

But I’m not a total lunatic, so I’m also eyeing up the slub-knit tops and the chic tailored blazers because as André 3000 says, “You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can’t predict the weather.” For anyone who’s lost with their summer wardrobe, I also want to direct you to the T-shirt dress, which is one of the biggest surprise dress trends of the season and the easiest way to update your wardrobe right now. Keep scrolling for our edit of H&M’s latest drop.

A light blazer finishes every look, all year round.

For effortless ease rely on a t-shirt dress.

For rainy days, as even summer can’t keep them away.

If any item screams summer its white linen trousers.

The nice top that jeans were made for.

If there’s one thing we can be sure of it’s that the weather can turn at any time, so always I keep a cosy knit close – just in case.

Light and classic.

A light shirt can be layered over dresses or paired with your favourite jeans for classic style.

Sleek design never goes out of style.

A modern iteration of the classic linen shirt that every summer wardrobe needs.

The cut-out trend is here to stay and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ll take the whole look.

For summer weddings, or with jeans for drinks at the pub, heeled espadrilles are a versatile sunny day shoe.

Just enough smocking to add shape, with plenty of flow to be comfortable all day long.

With braided details to add a summer feel, these sandals are about to finish all of my outfits, be it trousers, dresses or shorts.

I can’t get enough of loose jeans right now.

A timeless staple.

I’m wearing mine over swimwear on a staycation, or paired with sandal heels for work.

Style for summer and beyond.

Wide and flowing – these trousers work all year round with just a few styling tweaks.

Long skirts are timeless plus the co-ordinating shirt means this is the easiest outfit to put together.

H&M has finessed luxe design at low prices.

Crochet pieces come back year after year, and it’s clear to see why.

I’m a sucker for a comfortable waist band, and these elastic waist shorts do just the trick.
